Frequently asked questions
Before you travel, read this
How many days should I spend in Pirenópolis?
A weekend (two days) is enough for the historic centre and one or two waterfalls. With three or four days you can add the Serra dos Pireneus and more distant sights without rushing.
Is Pirenópolis close to Brasília?
Yes. It is one of the most popular weekend getaways for people living in the Federal District (Brasília, Brazil's capital) and in Goiânia. Check the current route in a maps app before you leave.
Do I need a car?
Not for the historic centre: it is compact and easy to explore on foot. For the waterfalls and the mountains, yes — or a tour with transport — because they lie outside town, often on dirt roads.
Are the waterfalls free?
Generally not: most are on private land or in reserves, each with its own entrance fee, opening hours and rules. Confirm the conditions of each site before you go.
When is the Festa do Divino?
It follows the religious calendar and peaks on Pentecost Sunday, fifty days after Easter — so the date changes every year. See the festival page for dates with sources.
