Days 1 to 3 — Town and nearby waterfalls
- Day 1: the historic centre, the Museu do Divino, the Igreja Matriz, the Igreja do Carmo and dinner on the Rua do Lazer.
- Day 2: the Vagafogo Sanctuary in the morning (book online) and Cachoeiras Bonsucesso in the afternoon.
- Day 3: a full day at Cachoeira do Abade, with tickets bought in advance.
Day 4 — Mountains
Morning at Pireneus State Park and afternoon at the Vargem Grande Ecological Reserve, on the same road.
Day 5 — Heritage and rest
Fazenda Babilônia in the morning (check its opening days) and a free afternoon: the Igreja do Bonfim, artists’ studios, the Feira das Artes craft fair or simply your guesthouse.
Day 6 — GO-338
Choose between Cachoeira do Rosário (a 42 m fall, daily visitor limit) and Cachoeiras dos Dragões (eight falls, a trail of about 4.5 km, accessed via the Eishōji Zen Monastery). With energy and bookings in place, some visitors split the two over different days, giving up day 7.
Day 7 — The region
Salto Corumbá, in Corumbá de Goiás, combines waterfalls, a leisure area and accommodation, with tickets sold online, according to its official website. Another option is to explore a stretch of the Caminho de Cora Coralina, a route of about 300 km mentioned by the Tourism Portal, with a guide or agency.
Accommodation for a week
On longer stays, many people split the week: part in the historic centre (evenings on foot) and part at a rural guesthouse (peace and nature). See the areas in where to stay and the guesthouses listed in the accommodation directory.
