Editorial policy, sources and methodology

The rules we follow to write, verify and update the guide.

Updated on October 4, 2026 ✓ Information checked on October 4, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original

Principles

  1. Nothing made up. Dates, opening hours, prices, distances and business details are only included with a source. Without certainty, the information is left out or flagged as needing to be checked.
  2. Primary sources first. We give preference to Pirenópolis City Hall, Iphan (Brazil’s national heritage institute), IBGE (Brazil’s national statistics institute), the Goiás State Government and the official websites of attractions and events. Secondary sources, such as the press and encyclopaedias, are used only with caution and are identified.
  3. Transparency. Every page shows the date of its last update and the sources consulted, with the date they were checked.
  4. No invented experiences. We do not write “we visited” or “we tested”. The content is editorial and informative.

Event dates

Festival and event dates are only published when confirmed by an official source. When an edition ends, it is shown as finished; the next one only gets a date once it is announced. We never automatically “repeat” the previous year’s dates.

Prices

Prices only appear when read on an official channel, with the source and the date checked, in dedicated tables. Prices change often: always confirm before you go.

Conflicting sources

When official sources disagree — for example, about the year a site was listed as heritage or the altitude of a peak — we point out the discrepancy or use the most cautious wording.

Business directory and advertising

  • Businesses are only listed with a verifiable public source, shown in each entry.
  • We do not publish phone numbers or WhatsApp.
  • Sponsorship and advertising, where they exist, are always labelled and do not change the editorial text or the assessment of attractions.

Translations

The English, Spanish, French, Italian and Chinese versions are adaptations of the Portuguese original, revised for readers of each language. The facts and sources are the same.
