How much does a trip to Pirenópolis cost: what to budget for
The parts of your budget and the few official prices published, always with source and date.
Updated on October 4, 2026 ✓ Information checked on October 4, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original
There is no single “Pirenópolis price”: the cost varies widely with the season, the type of accommodation and how many paid waterfalls you visit. Since we found no official survey of visitor spending, this guide does two things: it explains what goes into the budget and shows the official prices published, with source and date. Nothing here is a quote. Prices in Brazil are in reais (BRL).
The parts of your budget
1. Getting to town
- Car: fuel for about 150 km from Brasília (Brazil’s capital) or 120 km from Goiânia (the capital of Goiás) each way, plus trips out to the waterfalls — some are 35–40 km from the centre.
- Bus: the Brasília–Pirenópolis route is run by Viação Goianésia; check the fare with the company.
- Without a car: add transfers, taxis or agency tours to reach the natural attractions.
2. Accommodation
This is the item that varies most. The City Hall’s official list has about 190 places to stay, from hostels to farm hotels. Nightly rates rise considerably on public holidays, during the Festa do Divino and at big events. See where to stay.
3. Waterfall tickets and bookings
Most waterfalls are privately owned and charge an entrance fee; several require advance purchase or booking and limit the number of visitors per day. Each attraction publishes its own price and half-price rules on its official website. Extra experiences (brunch, treetop walks, zip lines, balloon flights, winery visits) are charged separately.
4. Churches and museums
The historic churches and the Museu do Divino charge token entrance fees, according to the City Hall’s listings:
5. Food
There is something for every budget, from snack bars and home-style Goiás cooking to chef-driven restaurants on Rua do Rosário. Many waterfalls have a snack bar or restaurant on site. See where to eat.
6. Guides, drivers and tours
More distant attractions or long trails may require a guide, monitor or 4x4 transport. The City Hall keeps a list of agencies, guides and tourist transport operators — see tour agencies and guides.

How to save without missing the best bits
- Travel outside public holidays and festivals: accommodation is the item that drops the most.
- Group waterfalls by area to spend less on fuel.
- Make the most of what is free: the historic centre, the bridge and river beach on the Rio das Almas, and the Feira das Artes charge no entrance fee.
- Buy tickets in advance where required: it saves you a wasted trip.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't you give an average daily spend?
Because we found no official survey of visitor spending in Pirenópolis. We prefer to explain the cost components and show only prices published by official sources, with the date we checked them.
Do the waterfalls charge an entrance fee?
Most do. According to the City Hall's Tourism Portal, most waterfalls are on private land where you need an advance ticket. Prices are on each attraction's official website.
When is the trip more expensive?
On long holiday weekends, during the Festa do Divino and at big events such as the Canto da Primavera festival. High demand mainly pushes up accommodation prices.
