Abade Waterfall (Cachoeira do Abade) is one of the best-known waterfalls in Pirenópolis. It sits within a private reserve — the Reserva do Abade — about 17 km from the historic centre, reached by a dirt road, according to the official website.
What the reserve offers
According to the official website, the reserve has four waterfalls and two trails:
- Abade, the main drop, about 22 metres high;
- Cânion (Canyon);
- Sossego (Calm);
- Landi.
The trails are about 500 metres and 2.5 km long. The short one is the natural choice if you want to see the main waterfall with less effort; the long one leads to the other falls.
Tickets
The official website says advance purchase is mandatory. Half-price tickets are available for people aged 60 and over, children aged 6 to 12 and people with disabilities plus a companion, and children up to 5 go free. Prices appear only on the ticketing site, which we could not check reliably, so we do not publish them here. Check the official channel.
Who it is for
- First-time visitors: one of the town’s classics, with the good facilities of a private reserve.
- Families: the short trail makes it easier; check the website for rules regarding children.
- Hikers: the long trail lets you see all four waterfalls.
How to fit it into your itinerary
Abade takes a morning or a full day, depending on the trail you choose. It pairs well with a return to the historic centre in the late afternoon. In the 2-day itinerary, it is one of the options for the trip’s main waterfall; compare it with the others in Pirenópolis waterfalls.
