FLIPIRI — Festa Literária de Pirenópolis (Pirenópolis Literary Festival) is an event devoted to books and reading, with author talks, activities for students and a cultural programme. In 2026 it reaches its 16th edition, according to press reports.

The 2026 edition

According to the reports, the 2026 edition’s theme is “Raízes e Memórias – Vem 300!” (“Roots and Memories – Here Comes 300!”), a reference to the 300th anniversary of Pirenópolis, which the town celebrates on 7 October 2027. The programme was split into two parts:

Period What was planned
26–28 August 2026 A tour of the municipality’s schools
6–7 November 2026 Cultural programme in the historic centre

Why combine FLIPIRI with your trip

November is the start of the rainy season in Pirenópolis (which broadly runs from October to April in central Brazil): the waterfalls usually swell and the vegetation turns green, but you need to watch out for flash floods. A trip at festival time can combine:

  • the literary programme in the historic centre;
  • a tour of the churches and museums — see historic centre;
  • a waterfall with a short trail in the morning — see waterfalls.

The town and the written word

Pirenópolis has a long relationship with the press: according to the City Hall, the first newspaper in Goiás, A Matutina Meiapontense, was printed in the town between 1830 and 1834. Learn more in history of Pirenópolis.

How to follow it

  • Follow the channels of Pirenópolis City Hall and the event organisers.
  • Check this guide’s events calendar, updated when there is official confirmation.
  • If you are travelling just for the festival, book accommodation near the historic centre — see where to stay.
