Banks and money in Pirenópolis

How to manage cash, cards and Pix, and which bank branches we found with an official source.

Updated on October 4, 2026 ✓ Information checked on October 4, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original

Pirenópolis has few bank branches for the number of visitors it receives on public holidays and during festivals. Planning how you will pay avoids ATM queues and surprises at places without a card machine.

How to pay in town

  • Card: accepted at most hotels, restaurants and shops.
  • Pix: Brazil’s instant payment system is widely used in shops, including at fairs and stalls.
  • Cash: useful at fairs, small shops and countryside spots where the internet signal drops.
  • Attraction tickets: several require buying online in advance, according to their official websites. Check before you set off.

Tips for withdrawals

  • Withdraw cash before long holiday weekends and the Festa do Divino: ATMs are in high demand.
  • Prefer ATMs inside bank branches and during business hours.
  • In the countryside mobile signal may drop, which gets in the way of Pix and card payments. Carry some cash in reserve.

Foreign travellers

The currency is the Brazilian real (BRL). International cards are usually accepted wherever there is a card machine, but not every ATM accepts foreign cards. Bring more than one means of payment.

About the list below

We only list branches with an official source from the bank itself. The only one found so far is an official Caixa document from 2020 — confirm the current opening hours and address before you go. Other banks and credit unions may operate in town, but we have not yet found an official source to list them.
